Place-Based Care Strategies
Advocate for financial incentives to increase the availability of convenient and culturally sensitive health and human services in Wards 7 and 8
Activity 1: Assessment of current capacity of providers in Wards 7 and 8 to identify gaps in care and identify financial barriers for providers to provide care
Mental Health Subcommittee members participate in monthly Ward 7 & 8 health council meetings, the DC Behavioral Health Association, and other relevant stakeholder meetings to identify gaps in care and financial barriers for providers to provide mental health care.

Activity 2: Analysis of appropriate policy solutions to address gaps in care
The subcommittee has been discussing expansion of health services in Wards 7 & 8: George Washington University Hospital will bring a health system to Wards 7 and 8 by 2020 and Unity Health Care and Howard Hospital to open specialty clinic in Ward 7 early next year – Conway Center building will offer behavioral health services.

Activity 3: Work with community organizations to advocate for these policy changes
The DCHCC Mental Health Subcommittee is working with Children's Law Center and aligning efforts with DCBHA and the Coordinating Council on School Mental Health.

Advocate for integration and reimbursement of community health educators/workers/promoters in health care settings and community based settings
Activity 1: Research best practice models and feasibility studies on cost effectiveness
Ongoing- "Basecamp" APP set up and shared through DC Health to gather and communicate best practices/next steps in regards to CHW health literacy-focused trainings/core competencies/standardization 
Activity 2: Research and document the current use of health educators/workers/promoters within DCHCC members and its community advisory board

Activity 3: Participate in dialogue of best practice models and value based payment reform milestones
